Management-Level Training: Our management-focused training courses aim to educate leaders within the Oil and Gas industry on how to create a supportive work environment, recognise signs of mental distress among their teams, and implement effective mental health strategies.

Mental Health First Aider Training: We aim to offer specialised training for Mental Health First Aiders, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to provide immediate support in mental health crises and to act as key resources within their teams for ongoing mental wellness.

Dr. Susan O'Connell

Dr. Susan O'Connell is an accomplished NHS Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience in mental health. She holds a First-Class Honours Degree in Psychology, a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Neuropsychology with Distinction. Passionate about achieving parity in mental health care, Dr O'Connell is committed to ensuring equal access to psychological support for all. She advocates for creative approaches to extend mental health services to industries like oil and gas where opportunities to access support may be challenging. With extensive experience in delivering evidence-based psychological interventions and spearheading service development initiatives, Susan is dedicated to helping individuals and organisations adopt psychologically informed ways of living and working.

Dr. Michelle O'Shea

With a strong background in direct clinical work, Dr. Michelle O’Shea specialises in evidence-based psychological therapies, helping individuals navigate complex mental health challenges.

Beyond clinical practice, she is passionate about improving mental health within male dominant industries, aiming to enhance workplace well-being through tailored mental health initiatives and organizational support. This focus combines psychological expertise with a commitment to fostering healthier, more supportive work environments.

Sean McBain

With 14 years of experience working offshore as a Mud Engineer in the UK sector, Brazil, and Scandinavia, Sean made a transformative career shift in 2016, driven by a passion for mental health. He earned a first-class degree in Psychology and gained extensive experience in Mental Health & Neuropsychology within the NHS. Sean now brings his unique blend of industry experience and clinical expertise to his work at Steel Island Psychology, where he is dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of oil and gas workers.
